25 Questions: MXCQ

I didn't know much about MXCQ and I still don't. But art doesn't need much of a forward - it just needs to reach the audience. Mxcq's, our Mark's, work has been in my life and everywhere without me knowing it. When I finally realized that the same guy making the cool socio political pieces was also the guy who did the lettering on the juice bottle that I was sipping from everyday. When I finally put two and two together I had to connect. Get to know MXCQ.

24. What was your favorite year of life?

2009 was a big one. I was 17 straight out high school ready to start art school in the fall. Then one summer night, I felt a bump on my neck. A couple days after that, I went to the doctors to get it checked and it turned out I had stage 2 cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma). I went through chemo for 3 months and then radiation another 3 months -- had to postpone art school and wait until my hair grew back. The last month of radiation is when I really thought about life and how I wasted 17 years of it. After that, I dedicated myself to school & started looking at life differently. Maybe 'favorite' isn't the right word but 2009 was definitely an important year for me.

25. What did you want to be when you were a child?

A Power Ranger! Haha, um, I just recently saw an old video of me when I was a 3-4 years old where on Christmas, I opened up all my gifts and the only toy I cared about was a magnetic drawing board. I thought that was funny, guess I always wanted to be an artist when I had no clue even then.
