#MOVDAY.9+

We flourish into this week’s edition of #MOVDAY moving like water as formlessly and fluidly as possible. Currently going against the current streaming through with vibrations from all across music’s spectrum from… Hold on I can’t even act like I am healed from the past two weeks losses.

We are living in a time where Pokemon Go is getting more coverage than the fact we have an accused rapist running for president (I won’t even say his name because he’s got too much media coverage already here is the story though if you are interested).

In music news, have you heard of Rich Chigga?? If you haven’t he’s a 16 year old Indonesian comedian turned rapper who just started rapping last year and dropped a song less than a week ago that won the internet (yea, the internet is a thing you can win). The most interesting part about it is as a person who has never stepped foot on U.S. soil and has all his knowledge about hip hop via the web his intentional use of the N Word is a hot topic right now, he defends himself by stating “my goal is to help put an end to the negative effects of the N-word. I want more people to know that it’s a term of endearment in hip-hop rather than something racist when non-black artists use it.”

I don’t really even know how to feel about it. Watch it and discuss amongst yourselves. I still don’t trust the media or the cops, or that getting money will make everything better. But I do believe that music heals and this weeks playlist of sounds includes Sango, MIA, OverDoz, La Femme, Jamila Woods, Talking Heads, Frank “When You dropping that New Album?” Ocean and ScHoolboy Q (peep Kendrick’s verse is worth the entire song trust me, he rhymes 87 words in 24 bars).
