This past week we hit thee hard reset button as an entire country. Nobody saw it coming but it happened, we all knew it was possible, some of us are still in denial, but this country voted against it’s own interest and diversity. The uncomfortable truth we are left with is that Trump was needed to wake us up. I think we all grew up as a country this week. We are now face to face with the work we had become too comfortable to do. We must understand that even if we can’t keep each other safe, we can keep each other loved. We have thee tools to counter this darkness. This is the time we forget fears phone number, get off our timelines and organize because ALL of our civil rights are under attack (unless you are straight white male, then you good). Fortunately there was a flood of love that washed over us in the form of a new A Tribe Called Quest album (featuring my big sister MS JCK of J*Davey ), a new album from Low Leaf, a new song from a now very soulful Donald Glover, and thee sonically strong devonwho, and even thee return of Dave Chappelle to television.
This weeks #MOVDAY was made to move our spirits higher as a reminder this art is all we have, they can’t arrest an idea. Enjoy thee playlist below and special thanks to Vivian Shih for this weeks artwork.
Also come and connect with us IRL style this Thursday night in Hollywood CA @ 7 pm @ “Come & Talk To We”
