1. Probiotics.

New foods are a "yes." Bad bacteria are a "no." Start these pills 1-2 weeks before travel and continue while you are. This will help your gut crowd out harmful bacteria.

2. Grapefruit extract.

This singlehandedly saved me from getting food illness while in India. The extract is available as a liquid or in the form of a pill from Whole Foods. The enzymes in grapefruit extract kill bad bacteria. Nature wins.

 3. Move.

Choose the aisle seats.  Knee lifts, leg lifts, crunches, calf raises, dips. Download Nike Training Club for hotel workout options.

4. Breathe.

Download Simply Being. Meditate for takeoff and landing. Getting into beta brainwaves helps with jet lag.

5. 80/20 Rule.

Aim for routine healthy eating, drinking, and movement. The 20% is for vacation, living, exploring, and other ratchet activities.

6. Get upside down.

The yoga pose Viparita ("inverted") Karani ("in action") fights fatigue, insomnia, and improves circulation. When you check in to your hotel, find a comfortable spot

7. Fuel.

Eat a big meal before your flight. Bring apples, bananas, almond butter packets, nuts, avocados, chia pudding, quinoa salad, carrots, or kale chips for snacks while on the way. Jamba Juice is not health food. Sorry, babes.

8. Ginger obsessed.

Pack chopped, fresh ginger and drink it with hot water while on the plane. An hour before your flight, take a ginger capsule or put ginger extract in water. Ginger chews can help with an upset stomach.

9. Maca.

This is my go-to energizing ingredient. Add it to any drink or smoothie for a malted or toasty flavor. Rich in vitamins B, C, and E, the radish root is grown in the mountains of Peru. It has been called "Peruvian ginseng."

10. Oil up.

Peppermint Oil soothes the stomach and is wonderful for motion sickness. Tea Tree Oil is a wonderful antiseptic. Coconut Oil is nutritious to eat, lather, or moisturize and even has SPF.
