Men have been underrepresented in the pilates world for quite some time now. Though it's founder, a man by the name of Joseph Hubertus Pilates, created this system of exercise and body conditioning to bridge a gap, the road had been broken. The all-male voice has been lost during the new fitness boom. Everywhere you scroll is marketing focused towards women of all ages but very rarely do you see a class catered towards men in the same magnitude. What's up with that?

“I think it’s silly that guys think that you need to do a certain thing to do a guy workout. You just need to do something with your body.”

Brook D’leau is a music producer who does pilates and is also a man. He makes an effort to attend Lagree style classes 2- 3 times a week and has seen benefits with his core, weight loss, and overall strength.

“There is a lot of thought put into your form because you are moving slowly. It’s not easy. I go to failure every day.”

It’s that feeling of defeat that gets him back up again and again. As the co-pilot of the pioneer Alternative Soul group J*DaVeY and former music director for Miguel, D’Leau has seen many peaks and valleys within the music industry. It is from these moments that he has found the willingness to show up to failure as often as he can.

“Expect to challenge your body in a way that you probably never imagined you would. Break perception. Come thru.”

Join us this Saturday, April 8th at 12:30 pm as Brook hosts a special Producers & Pilates classes dedicated to the men.
