Hoarse. That's how I like to leave a cheer zone. If I'm not running, I'm dancing and causing a ruckus. It's one of the most fulfilling experiences that one can witness. Liberating to say the least. You're literally yelling at strangers for a few hours. Cheering loud enough to trigger excitement. Human shotgun. Purposed to keep the vibes high. Since I am running this year, I figured I would share my own TOP 5 for how to keep it jumping in the cheer zone. undoorinary_naivasha_
  1. Show up and show out - Runners are fueled by the energy of the environment. This is not whale watching. Please don't come if you're just going to sit on the sidelines and spectate. Bring signs, bring your kids, bring grandma. This is a group activity and every bit counts.
  2. Make a joyful noise - The louder the better. Use everything from bullhorns to tambourines to castanets during race day. My personal budget friendly fave is an empty water bottle filled a quarter way with rice and a tree branch to beat it. I'm quite resourceful. If you play music off an amp - make sure the BPM is above 110. Legit went to the LA Marathon and they were playing "My Heart Will Go On." All my cheers depleted and turned to tears.
  3. Food - Cheering is a long, tiresome job. Bring snacks, for you and to share. Fruit and pretzels are always a must in my world and very easy to share. Sometimes, it's the little things like a pinch of salt that can change your output. Sideline food is always appreciated, just respect the course and chill with the banana peels.
  4.  Fight the power - Police tend to want to settle a rowdy crowd. Especially such an eclectic one as ourselves. Don't let them kill your vibe. Act as if you want to cooperate then proceed with chaos. Life rule, know your rights - any and everywhere you go.
  5. Crew Love - Last but not least. This is all for love. Brands, egos, and logos aside; we are a family forged in sweat. Running has been and will always be my therapy. There is real power in strangers supporting one another for pushing limits. It's what life should feel like. Sweat on the brow, passion in the heart, determination on the brain, as the body is on autopilot fulfilling the duties of its training.
