Whether it is the political climate or your anticipation for the next episode of How To Get Away With Murder, we all get a little anxious from time to time. We live in a need-to-know age and everyone has forgotten some very precious and necessary survival skills. One of many is the art of keeping calm. The emotional states associated with wellness depend on a clear mind and complete thought.

TIP 1: BREATHE

There is something precious and necessary about the Breathe function on the Apple Watch. Sometimes, you just need a reminder to fill your lungs up with all you can take and just let it go.

TIP 2: DRINK WATER

It's a shame I have to remind adults to put proper fuel in their body. Think of it as driving a car. Your car moves with the help of gasoline. When the car runs out of gas it starts to malfunction and eventually stops performing until you fill it up again. Water is the gasoline and your body is the vehicle. Fuel up to keep up with whatever comes your way.

TIP 3: THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK

You want to perform better at your job and enjoy your life a bit more? Calm down. I know stress makes you do a lot of things you wouldn't imagine but imagine yourself beyond the stress. You have the power to actually control your behavior and responses to situations that are out of your control. Cause guess what, all situations are out of your control.

Here are a few things to consider with your own survival stress:

How do I react to various situations?

What are my tolerances for different physical and mental stresses?

What do the various sign, feelings, and reactions mean?

How does my energy affect others around me?

TIP 4: ALKALINE YOUR BODY

One major factor of human behavior is chemical balance and toxicity. Most of the people in your office or on the train are chemically sick inside. Without getting too deep into the effects and symptoms of low-grade acidosis, basic science teaches that the improper combinations of elements lead to chemical reactions. Some of us see those reactions as acne, headaches, depression, fatigue, and anxiety.

TIP 5: ESSENTIAL OILS

You should still be breathing by now and paying attention to your pattern of breathing. To amplify your breathing experience, try a variety of essential oils. I keep these near my shower and make a point to do heavy breathing during the most vulnerable parts of my day. Just a few drops into my hand right after I wash my face and everything comes alive. When I know I have a crazy day of working or running around, I carry oils with me and find a moment to reconnect to the fragrance and feeling of a new day.
