On May 28, zine makers, photographers, artists, illustrators, and D.I.Y. enthusiasts all got together at the California Market Center in DTLA at yet another amazing L.A. Zine Fest event. The zine making scene, which is already booming in San Francisco, is growing every year in the SoCal city, bringing artwork and self-expression in the form of little booklets all over little shops around town. As a zine exhibitor myself, I got first-hand insight on the hustling and bustling event!
This is my 3rd time participating in LA Zine Fest, and by far my favorite experience thus far. My table was shared with my zine collaborators and friends, Bijou Karman and Juliette Toma. I love being able to watch the zine make the community grow stronger every year. The energy was strong - excited voices from every corner, groups of people browsing products from table to table, and fans meeting their most inspiring artists. In the east room, visitors were welcome to create their own zines at the DIY table.
